Our mission is to represent and promote Eritrean National interests in Australia and New Zealand, and to strengthen mutual understanding between Eritrea and the two nations.

The Consulate of the State of Eritrea, located in Melbourne, is the official representation of the Government of the State of Eritrea to Australia and New Zealand. 

This website, which is the Consulate’s official website, in addition to keeping you informed on the various services that the Consulate provides as well as updates on upcoming events, it is also expected to serve as a convenient window through which you will be able to see and learn a lot about Eritrea both as a country and as people.

Through this website we aim to: 

• Bring our consular services right to your doorstep by allowing you to access online our various consular services (visa, laissez passer, passport, Eritrean ID and other consular related matters). 
• Post, in liaison with the Eritrean Communities in Australia and New Zealand from time to time,  announcements and updates on due dates regarding (Meetings, Festivals, Eritrean National days as well as other Social Events)  that are of great  interest to all Eritreans living in Australia and New Zealand.
• Build on the foundations of warm friendship and solid ties that already exist between the people of Eritrea with both Australia and New Zealand; and enhance the legacy of goodwill that dates back to the time of the great friend of Eritrea, the late Professor Fred Hollows who was a citizen of not only New Zealand and Australia but of Eritrea, which has awarded him a citizenship in appreciation of his great humanitarian work during our people’s long years of  struggle for independence. 
• Organise investment seminars, with key-note speakers from Eritrea, which intends to be informing and updating Australian companies on the various investment opportunities that Eritrea’s abundant and unexploited underground natural resources (mainly mining) can offer prospective investors. 

Moreover, our friendly website will, aided by exotic pictures, guide you through a short tour around Eritrea introducing you to its unique characters as a country. If you are planning to visit Eritrea you will find reliable and up to date information on (latest  local news, weather updates, travel advises etc..) as well as links to relevant articles and official Eritrean websites.
